A CALLING

This is a rural psychiatry residency, built to grow psychiatrists with behavioral health built into primary care rather than bolted onto it. Cahaba built it on purpose: in 2023, an HRSA grant funded the creation of a psychiatric training program made specifically for rural Alabama, and in 2025 that work earned accreditation from ACGME.

Residents here aren't exposed to rural psychiatry, they're shaped by it, through real caseloads and real continuity in the communities that need them.
